Dear artists, dear partners, supporters, friends, lovers and followers,

Newsletter 2015
Dear artists,
dear partners, supporters, friends, lovers and followers,

2014 was a very important year for examples to follow! expeditions in aesthetics and sustainability (ETF!) with two very different venues.

The first one took place on the grounds of the former coal mine and now UNESCO World Heritage Site, Zeche Zollverein in Essen (Germany) with Emine Ercihan and Peter Reichenbach joining us as new artists.

From there we crossed the ocean to Lima, Peru, were we showed ETF! at the Metropolitan Museum, in occasion of the World Climate Conference 2014. This venue was funded by the German Federal Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety, and was carried out in a fantastic manner by the Goethe-Institut Lima in collaboration with local partners. They organised a vast side program, which was one of the reasons they had more than 17.000 visitors. Since then, the Peruvian artists Edi Hirose, Alejandro Jaime, Lucia Monge and Eliana Otta have joined ETF!.

2015, in contrast, is very quiet and very different. We thought about participating at the COP21 in Paris, but this time unfortunately the German Ministry could not support us.

The more joyful we are, to inform you that last week we signed the agreement with the Rauchmuseum in South of Germany.

So please note that the 14th station of ETF! will open:

Friday, November 13, 2015
D-97896 Freudenberg/Main

The private Rauchmuseum opened in 2009 to show and explain the history of their sustainable furniture production since 1897. The traditional company, working in its fourth generation, is the biggest employer in the region with 1.600 employees. Next to the production site and the museum it has a rest and a nursing home for its former employees and a little company zoo!

In 2014 the company received the German Award of Sustainability and has taken this momentum to invite ETF! to show our vision of sustainability. Part of the exhibition space will be shared with Museum der Dinge (Museum of Things), Berlin, which is a stimulating challenge but also means that we will have way less space than usually; therefore we are in negotiations with the municipality about some spaces in the city to display works there.

Furthermore we are working with our partners on bringing ETF! in the summer of 2016 to the German state of Mecklenburg Vorpommern, where ETF! would be embedded in a huge program of the Initiative Aesthetics and Sustainability.

And, despite the fact that nothing is wrapped up, our desire for a second venue in Latin America is shaping up and taking a precise form. We are currently in negotiations with a German partner from the science sector and partners in Chile to show ETF! in Santiago de Chile (and hopefully followed by Buenos Aires ) from Autumn 2016 to Spring 2017. Besides this we are still – and again – fathoming the possibilities of steering our expedition also to South Africa and Taiwan.

Finally, we wish we could tell you, that the Fond Aesthetic and Sustainability is in the making, but – even for a such a vague sentence – it is too early. Authorities mills grind veryveryvery slowly.

We will come back to you with information about the venue in Freudenberg, details of the side program and the development of the other expeditions.

Until then, we wish you a very nice summer and speak to you soon.

Thank you very much for your loyalty, which we give back with good faith.
